Nín hǎo! My name is Rocio, currently a senior at Bentley University. I spent my junior year abroad; during the fall 2011 I studied abroad at Fudan University through the Alliance in Shanghai, and in Milan, Italy during the spring 2012. I decided to study abroad for a whole year, because I felt the need to learn and experience different cultures. I wanted my study abroad experience to be rich and full of culture and I wanted to experience a cultural shock and be culturally challenged so, I chose China first; and that was the best decision I've made in my life, hands down. Studying abroad, changed my life completely; I learned about the world and myself and became open minded among many other things. hide

Hi everyone! :) My name is Ran Wei. I studied in Shanghai with Alliance Fudan this past spring semester, and it was a life-changing experience for me, something that will forever and always remain a huge part of who I am, and who I will become in the future. I also spend the summer abroad in Hong Kong at HKUST. Now I am back at GWU for my final year here, during which I really hope to help promote Alliance, as studying with the program was such a spectacular experience for me. I was born in Qingdao, China, but immigrated to the U.S. to New Jersey when I was very young, hence my desire to return back to my motherland for study abroad. Finally, of course, I love Asian culture - I am involved in various Asian organizations on campus, including an Asian-interest sorority, Kappa Phi Lambda. hide

Hi everyone! My name is Hannah, and I spent the past semester studying with the Alliance in Pune. I had an incredible time living and studying in India--though I'd traveled to the country before, the chance to spend four months living with a family in a major Indian city seemed like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I loved being able to meet amazing American students as well as Indian youth, and had an unbelievable experience working with a microfinance institution in the city's slum areas. I traveled to a third of India's states, exploring the country on weekends, during Diwali, and after the program. I really appreciated the chance to get an in-depth look at development on the subcontinent. I loved the experience and hope to return to India as soon as possible! hide

It took a lot of work and collaboration with my study abroad office to make going to Pune, India in Fall Semester of 2011 happen, but it was entirely worth it since it has been one of the best parts of my college experience. My host family, making my own short documentary, participating in cultural events, traveling, and making so many friends; together made wonderful memories with the Alliance for Global Education. I am highly involved on my small campus, especially with the international community. In addition, I would love to answer any questions you might have about the program. I had a great time in Pune, India this past spring, and I've promised myself that I'll be going back in the foreseeable future. Hey y'all, My name is Josh and I studied abroad in Shanghai at Fudan University this past Fall in 2012 with possibly the best group of students that could've been placed into the program. Other than the amazing trips to Qinghai, Wuzhen, and Hangzhou that were organized by Alliance, I had ample opportunities to really explore Shanghai and immerse into the Chinese culture. The program has given me more than I had asked and expected.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, raised in Seoul, Korea, but having attended a boarding school in Philly, I'm currently a junior at Boston College Carroll School of Management concentrating in Finance and Economics. I play varsity squash for my university but am also a huge fan of lacrosse, football, basketball, and hockey.  Thrilled to be working with y'all this spring semester!

Hi! My name is Alli, I studied abroad in Shanghai this past fall. I had the most amazing experience in China! Having never been out of the country before traveling to China, studying abroad was a huge leap for me, I expected to hate being abroad. I was so wrong. While I was in China I not only had the chance to make some great American friends, I also got to sample a multitude of Chinese dishes, I got know my roommate and Chinese teachers really well, and I traveled to 5 different provinces and 13 cities in China. I loved my experience and I'm keeping up with my language learning. I'm currently considering relocating to China for a couple years after I graduate. hide

Aloha everyone! My name is 李霖瑞, or Lin Rui (lin-ray), and I was in the Shanghai Fudan Fall 2011 program. It was the best time of my life and my Chinese has improved immensely. (Want a language partner? Let me know!) I also studied abroad the semester after in Hong Kong at Lingnan U. Though I made lots of new friends, it was definitely not as good as my experience with Alliance. It made me realize some unique and critical program goals and amenities offered to us through Alliance that not every program offers, and I had taken advantage of previously.
I'm particularly excited about this year, not only because it is my senior year, but also because I want to show
my school how important study abroad is and encourage them to increase study abroad financial aid. hide

As for China, it was by far the most amazing experience of my life. Needless to say, I was shocked at how diverse China actually is. Now that I'm back, I'm already looking for ways to return there over the summer (hopefully through Alliance) and without a doubt plan on moving there after graduation. hide

Hey Everyone! I'm Joshua, and in 2012 I studied abroad at both the Xi'an program and the Beijing program, spring and fall respectively. Prior to my travels, I had not left the country for any longer than a week and neither did I speak any Chinese, however my year in China was above and beyond any experience I could have imagined, I absolutely loved it. The best part of my time, no matter where I was, was the people I met, whether it was friends I kept in touch with for the whole year or acquaintences that I just chatted with for a few minutes on public transit, and it is to them I owe a great debt of gratitude for any progress that I made.

I am in fact majoring in Chemical Engineering. I would definitely say my time abroad has expanded my realization of what sort of opportunities are available to any student is willing to, as the Chinese say, "下工夫" and see what's out there. I am very much looking forward to helping other students who are looking for a chance to do just that. hide

Hello! My name is Carly. I just got back a month ago from studying in Varanasi, India for nearly four months. I am finishing up my junior year at Transylvania University in Lexington, KY. I am pursuing a degree in Religion, with minors in Women's Studies and Anthropology. My time in Varanasi was easily the best four months of my life. It was an incredible learning and growing experience. It was my first time really out of the country (except for Canada) and it changed my perspective on many things in life. It also reaffirmed my immense desire to travel, especially in Asia, but all over the world in general. I hope to return to India sometime soon, and have already begun applying to a few summer programs, but until I have the opportunity to return, I look forward to talking to people as much and as often as possible about my experiences. The most stunning part of my trip to India was definitely our trip up to the hill villages of Kurseong and Darjeeling. Himalaya is the most beautiful place I have ever seen, with some of the friendliest people I've met, and I'm really dying to see more of it. hide
