Terrorist Attack in Kunming, China (Yunnan Province)

Update: 

The Alliance has been carefully monitoring news and security outlets in light of the March 1st terror attack in Kunming. At this time, we see no reason to cancel our upcoming field study trip to Yunnan province, and plan to proceed as scheduled.  Alliance staff will be implementing standard safety protocols prior to and during the trip, and have taken additional special measures in Kunming given the recent events.

The Alliance for Global Education Becomes a Division of IFSA-Butler

The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University and the Institute for Study Abroad, Butler University (IFSA-Butler) today announced jointly that they have signed an agreement in which the Alliance for Global Education, Washington, DC, will become entirely a division of IFSA-Butler.

Heavy Pollution in Shanghai

Shanghai is now experiencing increased levels of pollution that are prompting residents to curb outdoor activities. Though air quality has been an issue in Beijing and other areas of Northeastern China, this issue has been relatively rare in Shanghai. Our on-site staff are closely monitoring air pollution levels and advising students on ways to minimize their exposure to it.

Heavy pollution in northeast China has been making the headlines, and we at the Alliance are monitoring these reports very carefully to monitor potential impact on the health of our students.  Though the recent reports focus on the industrial city of Harbin, Beijing has been experiencing significant problems with air quality as well.
